INTAKE PROCEDURES
OF UNIVERSITIES IN INDONESIA-
STUDENTS INTAKE SELECTION
Malaysian high-school graduates and Indonesian high-school graduates living in Malaysia are welcome to take any major in state universities in Indonesia. Those who wish so are obliged to take and pass the university student entrance test (Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru/SPMB).
SPMB is held annually for 2 days. The 2005 SPMB is to be held on 6 and 7 July 2005 in the Embassy of the republic of Indonesia, 233 Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur.
REQUIREMENTS
High-school graduates should:
- Have Sijil Matrikulasi with minimum point of 5 (five) Kepujian with at least 4B in Science and Mathematics and PNGK with minimum point of 3.00.
- Have Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with minimum 2 (two) Prinsipal E for the STPM batch 2002 and before, or 2 (two) Prinsipal C for the STPM batch 2003 and before with PNGK minimum 2.00 for all majors, excluding the Medical and Dentistry majors
- Have Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with minimum 3 (three) Prinsipal C for the STPM batch 2002 and before, or 3 (three) Prinsipal B for the STPM batch 2003 and before; PNGK with minimum point of 3.00 for the Medical and Dentistry majors
- Have other Sijil that equals to STPM issued in 2003, 2004 or 2005 and recognized by the Malaysian government
- Pass the university entrance test/SPMB
TEST GROUPS
The SPMB test is divided into 2 test groups, i.e.:
• Natural Science Group (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam/IPA) or equals to kelompok Sains in Malaysia.
• Social Science Group (Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial/IPS Bahasa) or equals to kelompok Sastra in Malaysia.
APPLICATION
Application is held in two phases. Phases I and II take place in the Indonesian Embassy, Kuala Lumpur. For 2005, SPMB registration was on 23 May 2005 to 17 June 2005, whereas Phase II on 20 June 2005 to 5 July 2005.
For Phase I registration, high-school graduates should submit the following requirements to the managing board of SPMB:
- Copy of the last sijil, legalized by the authorized official
- Copy of identity card
- 4x6 cm color photograph (1 pc)
For Phase II registration, SPMB participants should come themselves (proxies are not allowed) to submit the following requirements:
- Information letter from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (for high-school graduates who have registered themselves in Phase I)
- Original of the last sijil (original) as offered by the participants as the sijil copies in Phase I
- Original IC
- 2 (two) 4x6 cm color photographs
- RM 350.00 as registration fee
High school graduates of 2005 batch are allowed to directly register for Phase II by submitting the original and copies of semester 1 year 3 report legalized by the Principal (for those who have not yet received certificate or graduation statement).
TEST
SPMB is held and taken by all participants simultaneously, both in Indonesia and Malaysia. In Malaysia, the test is to be held in the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Test result on those who pass the test will be delivered by mail to all participants’ addresses upon decision of the central managing board of SPMB in Jakarta.
